PCS History
Professional Computer Systems, Co. started business on May 26, 1982, in Harlan, Iowa,
with its founder Kim Ingerslev and one additional employee. At that time, applications were developed using the RPG computer language on Burroughs computers.
Late in 1985, Kim became convinced the future lay in redeveloping the company’s products in a fourth generation language. In February 1986, PCS moved to Denison, Iowa and began developing utility software applications using the Progress programming language.
Since that time, the Company has grown in many ways. In the fall of 1989, the Board of Advisors was established. The Board consists of client members, appointed by their peers, with annual meetings at the corporate office. The Board of Advisors provides guidance in all aspects of product development and client services.
Currently the Company provides comprehensive, integrated, state-of-the-art Customer Information Systems (CIS), Financial Accounting Application Systems (FIS), and e-Commerce products to meet the needs of the ever-changing utility environment. PCS also provides technical expertise and leading edge business services and support to our clients. This includes developed software, distributed software, installation, support, consulting services, and networking.
In 1999 PCS realized new opportunities in several areas including introduction of e-Commerce and web development technology for clients, development of a partnership with Motorola to work on the PowerCom smart card technology, a prepaid power project, and a Classic Utility Billing application deployment. In 2000-2001 Utilit-e Insight Fund Accounting and Activity Based Cost Accounting applications were developed and PCS Suite of products and applications were branded with Utilit-e Solutions.
PCS currently develops programs in a Microsoft Windows based environment using Microsoft SQL Server and is a Microsoft Certified Partner. PCS partners with several other well-known and highly successful companies in bringing clients a complete and efficient application.
Professional Computer Solutions, LLC. will continue to be a leader in the utility industry. While developing and maintaining an unwavering commitment to clients, PCS is known for doing what it takes to get the job done. PCS continues to focus on recruiting and retention of highly skilled, technical and professional staff. This ensures that the necessary resources can deliver cost-effective solutions to clients in a timely manner. The Company will continue to devote ample dollars to ensure their ability to effectively design, develop, and deploy solutions taking advantage of new technologies while leveraging existing solutions.
January 1, 2019 PCS joined Central Service Association as a wholly owned subsidiary. The company name changed to Professional Computer Solutions, LLC. This will allow PCS to continue as a strong market solution in the utility industry and to continue to serve our clients with the best solutions available.
